Resending: You are first to see the Explosive Chemistry cover!

Hi Reader,

Writing News

I was interviewed on Spectrum News for October book month last Friday! It was broadcast all over Texas this past weekend. They gave me the video, so you can see how it went. I was the third author interviewed, and cut the video down a bit so I could post it easier, but the second author, Cecelia Rene, writes cool historical romance with historically accurate people of color in regency England. I got an autographed copy and that's some excellent writing, so check her stuff out if you get a chance. The interview video is uploaded on my Instagram and Facebook pages.

Also, believe it or not, Book 2 of the Liliana and the Fae of Fayetteville series, Explosive Chemistry, will be out next month!! Whew, things have really zoomed. The cover is ready, and the book is through final copy edits and in layout.

This is a sneak peek cover reveal just for you, because you're on my author notification list (or if you have sharp eyes, you can catch it in the interview video.)

Ta da!!

I've got some tease pictures with the art partially covered that I'll be sharing on social media next week. Share the heck out of those, please. I can use all the help I can get to put the word out.

Thank you guys so much for the reviews of Precise Oaths. Those reviews are the biggest help and so appreciated.

I've been getting great reviews on Precise Oaths, even from folks I don't know, but the number of folks who know the book exists is still pretty low. Shout it from the rooftops if you've got a megaphone. It's a huge help every time someone mentions or shares anything. Oh, and if you don't have a copy yet of Precise Oaths, be sure to snag one before the next book comes out.

Book 2 is really happening soon, and I'm frantically writing away on book 3. The City Owl folks told me they wanted to release book 1, 2, and 3 in rapid succession, and boy, were they serious about that.

If you want to be one of the early reviewers, just reply to this email and I'll send you a digital copy of Explosive Chemistry as soon as they're available.

Life Stuff

Cli Fi Con got cancelled last minute, but they're looking for another date to have it.

A bunch of SCA events I wanted to go to got cancelled, too. Not the events, just me getting to go to them. Another month, and still no RV. Grr. So, Royal Huntsman was this weekend, with Joe's Arcarius, his bow Yoda, running the tourney. And we did not go. It's more than a little bit disappointing. We're going on a big family cruise in November, so we will miss the last big event of the year that we normally never miss. On the plus side, hard to gripe about what we'll miss, when we're finally going to get to go on a cruise we've been planning for over a year.

My daughter, her two little sons, and her husband, who is from Puerto Rico, will all be coming. Son-in-law has a huge family, most of whom don't speak English. About thirty of them are coming with us on the long cruise. Joe and I have been studying Spanish for a year and a half so we can, hopefully, chat with our new relatives and get to know them better.

More in the fun life category, I got to go to SCARE for a CURE. I was in Austin for the TV interview, so bought tickets for SCARE for that same night. My brother is directing this year, and my nephew was in there doing his part to scare me while on stilts! I, of course, got well splattered in gore, although not nearly as bad as some in my group who were dripping by the end of it. Some of us know how to dodge. ;-)

I was going to work the other day, and the horses were in the dirt road leading off the land. I rolled down the windows, said hi, and Rowdy stuck his head in the window to say hi right back. I suspect he was interested in the roses I'd cut and had in my center console. I work 2 - 3 times a week at my mother's and since the roses looked nice, I was bringing her some. They ended up in a nice vase.

Garden

The drought has not really let up that much, but the baking heat is gone at least. Between that, and me watering the heck out of my garden from my well, I have beautiful blooms again. Not so many butterflies, other than a giant swallowtail here and there, but I'm seeing a lot of caterpillars. Hopefully, they'll have time to pupate for overwintering before the cold hits.

I have so many beautiful pictures, especially of my double delight roses that are knocking it out of the park now that the weather has cooled down. I had one that was almost completely white, which was cool. I made a vase full of flowers for myself this weekend, with two double delight roses, and a bunch of other things that were blooming.

I worked myself till I dropped Saturday, pulling weeds that had gotten out of hand and covering garden sections with compost. Already dropping down in the forties at night, so my fall prep is rapidly going to become winter prep.

Joe snagged 3 welding masks and me, him, and his parents watched the eclipse on Saturday. That was cool. His mom hadn't ever seen one. Just never had the right equipment and time to go watch when it happened. Didn't quite get a full ring of fire eclipse where we were, but it was cool, nonetheless.

Found this odd-looking little guy crawling up a rose trellis pole and snagged a pic of him. No clue what he is. He just looked neat against the black trellis pole. He's about half the size of a dime. I zoomed up as much as my iphone would let me.

That's all I've got for this update. Should be sending you much more frequent updates as we get closer to Explosive Chemistry publication.

Please, ping me if you're up for getting an advanced copy and reviewing!

Cheers,

Paige

Hi Reader, I know, I know, I haven't sent a newsletter out in over six months. There have been some major very bad things happening in my personal life and a few good ones as well. The combination has made it crazy hard for me to find time and energy just to write, much less write a letter to everyone about writing. Since I last wrote a Words and Wild newsletter I lost a day job I'd had for five years, gained a new day job, lost a beloved young dog unexpectedly, had my car totaled by a...

Hi Reader, It's been a busy month! I'm getting some great reviews on Explosive Chemistry, but the numbers on them are pretty low. If you've been meaning to write a review, I can sure use it! Writing News LOTS of new promotional stuff out on the web by me, mostly interviews, but also a Liliana prequel story! And a cool article. Motherhood Moment published an interview. The Reading Nook published an interview. The Frumious Consortium published an Explosive Chemistry excerpt. The Table Read has...

Hi Reader, (Something weird happened and half the pics didn't load, just the captions. Not even sure how to do that if I wanted to. I blame satellite internet on the cruise ship. Here's my second attempt.) Liliana and the Fae of Fayetteville Launch day for Explosive Chemistry, book 2 of the Fae of Fayetteville books, is sneakin up on me fast. I've been madly getting day job work squared away, getting packed, traveling, boarding, and finally got to go snorkeling with my family yesterday in the...
